God is not dead nor does He sleep. That is the focus of Christmas and the whole of following Jesus. Blessings to all this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas Richard! Thank you for sending this message of hope. I agree we need to speak as one but it needs to be with a common language that unites. Scotland is no longer a Christian country but has yet to define what she wants to become (I don't know enough about what's happening in the rest of the UK to comment). The time to speak up is now. To ask people to dig deep and unearth that core morality that transcends faith. The internal compass that resides in us all. I may be naive but I still believe in the power of the collective to move mountains. We just need to find our voice.

Wonderful, foundationally good thoughts, Richard. Thank you and Merry Christmas. Yes, God is alive, and he's coming back. Maranatha! Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Wickedness and perverseness in the world is nothing new, but do not despair - Peter acknowledged it a couple thousand years ago -

"For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” With many other words he testified and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”

BTW, you inspired me to order the complete works of Longfellow from our library.

Lovely message Richard. Fight for what's right rather than drown in despair.

Thank you for a reflective posting. An echo from the Gettysburg Address...

"...This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Happy Christmas, Richard, and here's to the new quarter century.
