Nice post, simplifying the ERoEI technicalities as described here by an expert: https://euanmearns.com/eroei-for-beginners/.

As a technically literate layman (BSc engineering) I have campaigned extensively against Net Zero for many years, most recently here: https://metatron.substack.com/p/debunking-the-climate-change-hoax.

My friend Euan Mearns of Energy Matters, who wrote the above ERoEI article, has been elected as a member of the CO2 Coalition. They do good debunking the climate change hoax, e.g. this 40-minute piece by their executive director Gregory Wrightstone: https://www.blckbx.tv/klimaat/global-warming-myths-debunked-by-ipcc-expert-gregory-wrightstone.

Unfortunately, as made clear in this Wrightstone piece, they stick strictly to the science and avoid any discussion of climate so-called “politics”, i.e. its blatant lies. I find this very frustrating because they are getting negligible traction with the general public by just going for the climate pseudo-science because the globalist establishment simply censors them from public awareness. Just try searching for “CO2 Coalition” on the BBC News website.

Richard, great article.

You do realise that there is one party that agrees with your views?

Have you not heard of the Reform Party. Scrap Net Zero and subsidies.

Build SMRs fast track in the UK. Drill oil, gas, shale gas immediately.

Vote Reform.

can't solve local housing or poverty but pay a few more bucks in taxes, and apparently the political elite can solve national energy demand and global warming 😏😁

Good reading Richard. 👍

My chips are "ALL" on Reform UK

You raise some valid points here Richard. Pity you won't be voting. Scotland needs more informed people to stick around. Energy policy is complex and, whilst it is easy to criticise, what we need is balanced solutions but, more importantly, people like you who can close the policy gap and drive change. It has been a long time since we were at uni but the challenges are just the same.

Thanks, Catherine. I've thought carefully about voting. I fully realise that the ability to do so is a privilege for which people have fought and died to defend for us. But if the system is incapable of generating a valid choice, then no vote is itself a valid choice and it's the one I'm making on this occasion. Hope you are well.

It is a tough call but as I live in the Alloa and Grangemouth constituency I have no choice but to vote. Every vote counts! I find myself in the strange position that having worked in the renewables sector for years I'll be voting to try and save oil and gas production.

Net Zero will be scrapped by Reform BUT as you say, time is not on their side. I think should call a NAtional Emergency and halt the closure of the Nuclear Generator Hinckley B. BUT it will mean scrapping immediately many of the rules that EDF claim prevents them from extending the life of the plant. So they will close the plant at the end of July. Perhaps implementing some sort of 'National Emergency' legislation and so DEMANDING EDF (French Government owned ) STOP the closure and extend the life of the plant.

Then literally on the day Farage enters No 10 - telling the generators NO coal plant closure either AND start immediately on new gas plants, ignoring the Net Zero laws that have to be reversed.
